Summer Internship 2013

On 27 May-26 July 2013, I had an internship in PT.HM. Sampoerna Tbk.It is a cigarettes company in Indonesia that is an affiliate of Philip Morris International. I worked in Information System and specifically assisted Security Control and Finance team. This is my first internship and also my first job. It was interested and challenging for me to work in IT department which deal with software that I never knew before, such as SAP and SNow. However, by the help of my supervisors who trained me patiently, I gained knowledge and skill. In the end of the internship, I have to present in front of them and a manager to perform what I have learned during two months. I felt so blessed that I got positive response and a souvenir from the officers. I loved to have an internship, because I could prepare myself for my future job and broaden my network. Something that needs to be underlined is that I am an industrial engineer, but I was an intern in IT department. In a future, sometimes a job that you’ll get is not always suitable with your major, so just be prepared and never limit yourself to learn as much as you can.

Summer Break with Friends

A few days after my final and before leaving Morgantown. I moved to a new apartment, so I needed to move my stuffs. My friend, Erin, helped me to move out. She is one of my bestie during my first year of college. Unfortunately, she will transfer and go back to ohio next fall 2013, but we really had a good time during a year. “Just got back home after a three hour adventure that involved getting lost, going down a one way street the wrong way...twice, a unexpected shower that left all of us drenched, and helping Rizky and her roomate move thier stuff up three flights of stairs. All making a fun day that I enjoyed. — with Rizky Nur Zairina.” (facebook) After the move out day, I also spent my time with my another bestie, Caroline. We went to Coopers Rock (an amazing green view of mountains in Morgantown). I visited her house and a lake. We had a bonfire, cooked for dinner with her family and her brother teached me a gun shooting. It was a good day and I enjoyed it a lot.
This summer break, I had another surprise; I could go home because my friends and I have internship in Indonesia, though we will be placed in some different cities. I will intern for PT. HM. Sampoerna Tbk (an affiliate of Philip Morris International) in information system division. I curious about it, since it’s my first time to have a job. I am also excited to meet my family, friends, relatives, teachers and colleagues. Just a while ago, I met my friends from texas and my english teacher. We were reunion in Doha International Airport. What a lovely moment!

Spring 2013 Semester End

The semester runs really fast. I took some courses such as Calculus 2, Matlab, english, chemistry, and world religion. Most of those courses are prerequisites in my first year of college. If people ask, how much I learn from those courses, I always say; a lot. I tried to do my best on every courses that I took. The most exciting one is world religion, it was the only general course that I took for Spring semester. I learn all four major religions based on religious facts ; in order not to become argumentative. However, it was interesting and help me to appreciate the difference between people in the world. I felt lucky that I could get to know many of my professors very well. Another good thing was happened in the end of this semester that I could raise my GPA. I am very blessed and thankful to God. During the semester, I did not only expand my academic skill, but I also learned to be active in an organization. I was elected as a membership chair of Society of Women Engineers in my campus for my sophomore year.I am the only international student among other officers. That is interesting and challenging. However, I want to balance my skill and learn a new experience from my friends in another country. I also like to do some activities that the organization’s has, such as social, volunteer, outreach and professional development. Last time, I was volunteering as a tour guide in a girl scout day. It was my first time to assist parents and their children. I loved it and they gave me positive response too.
